Hello,

Are you bored of your current room/home/office space? Looking for a change? But not having to buy new furniture or spend a bomb? Then go on reading the below ideas:

For most of us, replacing all of your furniture room by room isn’t feasible. That doesn’t mean you can’t make simple, easy and often-inexpensive changes to rooms in your home. Here are some easy ways to change the look of any room without buying any new furniture.

Give your windows something new to wear. Ready-to-hang window treatments are easy to install and yield dramatic results. Windows can be dressed to perfectly suit your style and taste. You can go bold and graphic with geometric curtain panels, or beachy with gauzy white sheers, or minimalist with bamboo shades—the options are endless.

Place flowers with a flourish for an instant breath of fresh air in any room. Or, if you prefer, potted ferns, wreaths, and potpourri can also make a statement. The focal point of the display doesn’t have to be only the greenery— give thought to the vase, as well.

A simple area rug can dramatically change the feel of a room. Dress up with an Oriental rug, or lighten up a dark room with a light colored rug, or add colors through a funky patterned rug.

Brighten up with new lighting. Proper lighting can truly bring a room to life.  A poorly lit room looks small, dark and cramped, while a brightly lit room appears open, airy and welcoming. Strategically place a couple tall floor lamps in dark corners, Layer this lighting with lamps on side tables, or you can replace all those outdated ceiling fixtures with the stunning modern masterpieces. All this makes your room feel welcoming and cozy.

One word: Paint. “Paint it” is the most common suggestion you’ll hear to update a room. It seems obvious but a clean coat of paint can take a room from drab to fab. Consider adding a punch of color on an accent wall, or just touch up your trim with a clean coat of white paint. If your home already has a fresh coat of paint, then look to other things that could use a touch-up.  Maybe paint your ceiling a cool blue, or bring new life to an outdated piece of furniture with a new coat of paint. A deep clean and a new coat of paint can go a long way when it comes to revamping our rooms without major renovations.

Install decorative display shelves. You’ll solve storage and decorating issues at the same time. If you collect shells, matchbooks, or family photos, don’t hide them away. Give each their own space to shine, and give your room a new vibe in the process. Mirrors when placed opposite windows reflect light into the room and make the room seem more open.

Wallpaper an accent wall. Consider covering the main wall of your bedroom with a peaceful pattern, or consider a living room update by covering one wall with a funky geometric patterned paper.

Last but not the least. Add colorful cushions. Cushions are significant decorating accessories that make your space look stylish and versatile and are light on your budget of home décor. If you lead a very casual/informal lifestyle, funky/jazzy designs suit you the best. Then create a good mix of colorful and decorative cushions in unusual shapes and create a delightful atmosphere.

Hope these ideas help you in bringing a little change in your home or space.

Hello,

Here’s something new I am starting on my Blog where I will be sharing some Before & After images of the rooms or houses I have completed as part of my Interior Design projects.

A really fun styling job I have completed recently was to transform a boring guest bedroom into a Nursery room. The room was for a 5-month old Boy, so I wanted to design a room that was a bit trendy and also something he can grow up in first few years.

The bedroom as it stood was filled with king size bedroom set and random furniture pieces, so I needed to buy everything new and for a kid-friendly room. This included a crib, bed for his nanny, mattresses, bedding, lights and window treatments. To achieve this, I sourced everything for the room from Pottery Barn and Home center. Pottery Barn kids store is the perfect place to find everything you need for kids bedroom.

So this was how the room started out. Below are the images of BEFORE guest bedroom:

When designing the room I put together a color palette of white, navy blue, yellow and grey. The colors, although not obviously ‘childlike’, had a fun, youthful but modern connotation when combined. Below is the initial mood board I created for the design concept.  I chose grey wallpapers with borders for walls, so this color provided the base, while the grey works well with yellow and can be used to balance out this color so it wasn’t overpowering. I also did an accent wall right behind the crib with navy blue paint and white decal stickers of tree branches and birds.

I decided to go with White furniture because that automatically makes your room look neat and not bulky with a lot of furniture pieces. The opposite wall of the crib was the wall of storage units. As a growing kid there we many kinds of stuff and toys to be stored somewhere neatly. I also wanted to bring the birds from the decal sticker to the opposite wall so bought these flying bird decor from Pottery Barn.

The existing ceiling was very interesting with round design but had dark brown wooden borders which did not match my theme. So I decided to paint them white and put up a cloud patterned wallpaper on the round part making it look like the sky.

I also added a comfortable long armchair for the mother to relax while putting the baby off to sleep with yellow cushions and cushion with the personalized name of the baby.

Curtains were fairly simple with light grey chiffon and yellow velvet main giving it a very soft look. White pelmet box just finished the look of the window.

In addition to the room, I also customized a wooden cabinet in navy blue color under the wash basin in the attached toilet and accessorized with yellow decor flowers and candles.

So this was the final look! Let me know what you guys think? I will be sharing more on this segment of my blog.

Cheers,

xoxo

Though we don’t think of ourselves as overly trendy—we identify as timeless and classic, thanks to the market—there are certain interior products, concepts, and themes that come and go depending on what tastemakers are inclining toward at the moment. I personally keep changing my likes and dislikes when it comes to design. But at the moment I am currently obsessing these 5 design trends. Have a look at it.

1.Oversize Art

When it comes to Art, in most cases I like a bold move. Massive abstracts, huge sculptures, sizable textured wall hangings are my favorite. I believe that art can totally “make” a space. An otherwise serene room can come alive with the pop that an attractively scaled abstract work can offer. Oversized art is always a focal point. This is why when used, the rest of the room is usually very simple. Whether you love yours painted, printed or framed I think you’ll agree that adding color and style to your walls is a genius move in any space.

2. Rose Gold

Rose Gold is one of the hot new metallic colors that is sweeping the interior design and fashion worlds. It’s a beautiful and rich warm hue that’s close to copper but with a bit more yellow to it. And it’s definitely one of my new favorite colors. Rose gold is a great choice when it comes to home decor because of its warmth and unexpected color that still blends well with a variety of other hues and design styles. It can be soft, bold, sparkly, matte, or have a metallic sheen. When using this color in your home, use it sparingly, as an accent color, to keep it from seeming overwhelming. The best pieces of furniture that come in rose gold are coffee and side tables, various lighting fixtures. It is also the perfect color for accessories like kitchenware, throw pillows and other textiles, and small items like planters, frames, and figurines.

3. Marble

Marble may invoke up images of sleek kitchen counters, but there’s no need to downgrade the material to that singular design purpose. Thanks to the minimal color palette and unpredictable swirls, marble feels decidedly of-the-moment, no matter where you use it. From bed linens to throw pillows to serving trays, marble is popping up everywhere when it comes to decor. And as an added bonus, it looks absolutely charming with just about any metallic. The beautiful stone has been used in everything from sculpture to architecture since ancient times. And for modern day luxury items, it is the epitome of classic style. From actual stone marble to marbelized paper and accessories, here are marble pieces that will have you bringing this design trend into your home this year.

4. Tropical Prints

In case you haven’t heard, the tropical decor is having a moment right now. Exotic colors and textures—fit for a balmy oasis like the Bahamas or Fiji—have been making a splash on the 2017 home design circuit. And we can’t get enough of the sizzling trend. Sure, tropical looks can be flamboyant. But that doesn’t mean they have to be tacky. Bold, over-scale tropical leaves in graphic prints can make a classy statement. From lighting to cushions, wallpaper to duvets, hallways to mirrors, fashionable tropical décor strikes the right balance between showcasing vivacious colors and nailing that relaxing holiday ambiance. Think flowery prints, with soft, light greens, pale pinks and patterns with subtle coral, brown and blue undertones. A tropical interior design theme isn’t about making overly wild statements and making your house guests feel like they’re living in Rio in the middle of Mardi Gras. Instead, it’s about embracing a welcome boost of color into the home, all in good taste. It’s about being light and breezy.

5. Mixing Metals

Gone are the days of worrying that your fixtures are perfectly matching. Mixed metals have been making importance in interior design for quite some time now. Done well, the presence of mixed metals gives your space interesting personality and adds visual depth to your home. However, when playing with mixed metals there are many factors you want to consider in order to successfully execute this trend. The size of your space, the metal hues were chosen, the amount of metal to incorporate, and the placement are all the important factors in achieving the contemporarily characteristic look of mixed metals. When selecting your metal accents, consider blending warm and cool tones. Warmly toned metals, like brass and bronze, add an astonishing accent of color and when used in juxtaposition with cool toned metals like stainless steel and aluminum. This opposition is what makes mixing metals so attractive and will create the most impact with your space.

Do you want to add some life to your décor, but you’re not sure where to start?

Then you’re not alone.

Why not consider going all tropical?

It’s becoming a growing trend right now. When some people hear the word ‘tropical’, they immediately think of loud, garish and over-the-top colors. Exotic colors and textures—fit for a balmy oasis like the Bahamas or Fiji—have been making a splash on the 2017 home design circuit. And I can’t get enough of the scorching trend. Sure, tropical looks can be loud. But that doesn’t mean they have to be tacky. Bold, over-scale tropical leaves in graphic prints can make a sophisticated statement.

From lighting to cushions, wallpaper to duvets, hallways to mirrors, fashionable tropical décor strikes the right balance between showcasing vibrant colors and nailing that relaxing holiday vibe.

If your decor has truly put you in the tropical mood, infuse your outfit with natural vibes and earth-toned hues. Paired my tropical dress with my favorite green heels.

Dress: Primark; Shoes: Glamorous; Watch: Michael Kors

It’s worth a look. After all, when you think about it, is there anything more comfortable and warm than an exotic retreat? Hope you agree with me.

Hello Everyone,

This is the first time I am going to write a review about a salon. So I randomly saw this salon “The Bridal Lounge” on Groupon and bought the manicure pedicure combo deal. The Bridal Lounge is located on Al Wasl Road in one of the villa. It is basically a one-stop-lounge where brides can fulfill all their big day preparations without worrying about the many little inconveniences that come with it. Along with their Salon and Spa services, they also provide Wedding Event services and Bridal Wear. They have some well-known international bridal designers who are famous for their elegant wedding and evening gowns.

The minute I entered the salon, I fell in love with their interiors and the pastel color combination used. The walls have a fresh lemon yellow color with beautifully carved white frames and wainscot. Few things I really liked was their reception area, chandeliers, white furniture and beautiful flower arrangements. I was also impressed by the spacious areas for different services and cleanliness of the entire salon. They have bridal rooms for a bride to get comfortably ready for her BIG day.

Nail services had a separate room where I was taken and asked to sit in a comfortable massage chair. I had chosen classic manicure pedicure combo which was around 79 dirhams on Groupon. The minute I entered the room I was so happy because they have my favorite brand for nail polish which is OPI. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. And very carefully and attentively they did my manicure and pedicure. I love the fact how perfectly they cut the cuticles from my nails and did an amazing job on scrubbing and massaging my feet. I was offered a perfect cup of cappuccino with some Lotus biscuits. One of the best part of my entire experience was that I could watch YouTube on their TV and play my favorite songs and I immediately felt right at home.

Overall this was an amazing experience and I would love to go back again for other services. And last but not the least I am writing this review after nine days and I still have the perfect manicure without any nail chipping. This is BY FAR my best manicure experience.
